Business Overview

With effect from January 2020, Cathedral Underwriting Limited changed its name to Lancashire Syndicates Limited, thereby bringing its name and brand in line with the rest of the Lancashire Group of Companies. There is no change to Lancashire Syndicate's ownership, capital structure, executive management, underwriting personnel or business activities. It will be business as usual. 

Lancashire Syndicates gives the Lancashire Group access to Lloyd’s - the world’s specialist insurance market - through Lancashire managed Syndicates 2010 and 3010. The Lancashire Syndicates have the benefit of Lloyd’s worldwide licences and offer clients the security of a Lloyd’s policy. Both Syndicates underwrite on behalf of Lancashire’s own underwriting member of Lloyd’s and Syndicate 2010 also does so on behalf of third party underwriting members of Lloyd’s.

Lancashire’s underwriters are all market leaders in the areas in which they operate.

Managing Agent and Authorisations

Lancashire Syndicates Limited is the Lloyd’s managing agent for Syndicates 2010 and 3010. It is authorised by the Prudential Regulation Authority and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority and Prudential Regulation Authority. It is also authorised and regulated by Lloyd’s.

Active Underwriters

Jon Barnes and John Spence are the Active Underwriters for Syndicates 2010 and 3010 respectively.

Capacity

Syndicate 2010 has an underwriting capacity of £306 million for the 2019 underwriting year of account. Syndicate 3010 has an underwriting capacity of £100 million for the 2019 underwriting year of account.

Licences

Syndicates 2010 and 3010 have the full benefit of Lloyd’s worldwide licences enabling them to accept business from over 200 countries and territories worldwide.

Syndicate Security Ratings

Syndicates 2010 and 3010 provide policyholders with the security of a Lloyd’s policy. The Syndicates’ ratings are as follows:

Capacity Providers

Approximately 58% of the underwriting capacity of Syndicate 2010 and 100% of the underwriting capacity for Syndicate 3010 is provided by the Lancashire Group’s own corporate underwriting member of Lloyd’s. The balance of Syndicate 2010’s capacity is provided by underwriting members of Lloyd’s underwriting via Lloyd’s members agencies Alpha Insurance Analysts, Argenta Private Capital Ltd, Hampden Agencies Ltd and ICP General Partners Ltd.
